meet, make, grow + share

Workshop

We operate a 4000sqft community workshop on the historic East Blackhall Street, one of Greenock’s oldest areas and close to the East India Harbour. Our building dates from the post-war period, was a polythene manufacturing base in the 1960’s, latterly a garage through the 1980’s.

The building was fully renovated in 2022 with financial support from the Scottish Government’s Regeneration Capital Grant Fund and Local Energy Scotland.

The space is accessible and contains our office, kitchen, toilets, general use rooms & a hydroponic growing space as well as the main workshop floor. Our workshop is equipped with a wide range of floor standing wood working equipment including bandsaw, sander, thicknesser, planer / thicknesser, chop saw, table saw, pillar drill and various handtools. We also have metal working & wood turning areas.

Upon joining, members are given induction training on each individual machine.

Open Sessions

Most mornings you can pop in for a cuppa and get involved in a wide range of projects from their own personal projects or repairs through to helping out others with their projects and larger community project commissions that we undertake too.

We also occasionally take on community projects for local schools, groups and organisations.

Wood Turning

Our wood turning area features a number of lathes and good quality turning tools. The lathes allow everything from pens to bowls to be made. Our friendly supervisor team are always keen to show new members how to safely use the lathes and get great results.

Model Making

We host a 3 hour model making session every week where members can work on their own models or in small groups with full access to workshop machinery. The friendly group build bespoke and kit models from a variety of materials, sharing tips and knowledge over a cuppa.
